BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Newly ranked Jax State men's tennis travels down I-20 to take on UAB Wednesday at 1 p.m. The Gamecocks were ranked No. 72 in the newest ITA rankings release Tuesday morning.
UAB currently sits at 4-8 overall on the season, including a 3-3 record at home, a 1-4 record away, and an 0-1 mark in a neutral site match. The Blazers are coming off a 4-0 loss at North Florida on Friday, March 13.
Jax State is currently 13-2 on the season, including a 6-0 home record, a 6-2 record on the road, and a 1-0 record at a neutral site match. The Gamecocks are fresh off a dominating 7-0 win at home over Georgia State on Sunday, March 15. Jax State's four seniors were honored ahead of the match against the Panthers for senior day.
In singles,
David Krasner leads the way for Jax State with a nearly perfect 12-1 record on the year.
Timo De Visser is 9-1 and
Alin Fatu is 8-1 thus far. The Gamecocks hold an impressive 56-17 mark in singles.
Meanwhile, Jax State is 24-11 in doubles action this year.
Lucius Soller leads the team with a 9-3 record, but Krasner follows closely with an 8-3 record, respectively. Fatu sits at 7-2 in doubles and
Charlie Penman is 6-2.
Following the match at UAB, Jax State hits the road again to face Austin Peay on Tuesday, March 24 for a match that begins at 1 p.m.
