JACKSONVILLE – The Jax State women's tennis team is set to host South Alabama Saturday at 10 a.m. The Gamecocks are 10-5 on the year, while the Jaguars are currently sitting at 10-0.
The Gamecocks are coming off a 4-0 loss at UAB on Wednesday, March 18. Meanwhile, South Alabama takes on Kennesaw State on Friday after defeating Campbell University 5-1 on March 13.
Jax State is 38-27 this season in singles action. Freshman standout
Sae Kaneko has a team-best 9-2 singles mark.
Irene Artigas follows Kaneko with an impressive 8-1 singles record. Other top performers include
Polina Ramenskaja is 6-4 and
Emma Montagner is 3-1.
Aneka Patel is 5-5,
Alba Roche is 2-3,
Isabella Sambola is 3-4, and
Angeles Rodriguez-Rizo is 2-7, respectively.
In doubles, Jax State sits at 23-12 as a squad. Ramenskaja and Kaneko are tied with a team-leading nine doubles wins. Kaneko is 9-4 and Ramenskaja is 9-5. Patel and Artigas both have eight wins as Patel is 8-4 and Artigas is 8-2. Also in doubles, Rodriguez-Rizo is 6-4, Sambola is 4-2, Montagner is 2-2, and Roche is 0-1 this season.
Following the match against South Alabama, Jax State hosts Western Kentucky Friday, March 27, at 1 p.m.
