JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State women's tennis is set to welcome Murray State to the Jax State Tennis Courts Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Gamecocks are coming off a pair of wins at Eastern Kentucky on March 4 and Cumberlands on March 5. Jax State downed Eastern Kentucky 4-3, then dominated Cumberlands 4-0.
Against Eastern Kentucky, the Colonels took the doubles point, but Jax State then went on to win four matches in singles to claim the victory.
Polina Ramenskaja clinched the match win against EKU with a 6-2, 6-6 (4-3) on court one. Meanwhile, against Cumberlands the Gamecocks took the doubles point before cruising to three-straight singles wins to take the match.
In singles this season, Jax State has a 31-22 record.
Sae Kaneko paces the Gamecocks with a 7-2 mark thus far, including currently being on a four-match win streak.
Irene Artigas follows closely with a 6-1 record, while
Aneka Patel and Ramenskaja are tied at 5-3.
Emma Montagner is 2-0 on the year.
Isabella Sambola is 3-4 this season, Angeles is 2-7, and
Alba Roche is 1-2, respectively.
For doubles, the Gamecocks are 19-10 this year. The doubles pairings of Kaneko and Rodriguez-Rizo and Ramenskaja and Patel are tied for a team-best 6-3. Artigas and Sambola are 4-1, Kaneko and Artigas are 1-0, Montagner and Ramenskaja are 1-0, Artigas and Montagner 1-1, Roche and Ramenskaja are 0-1, and Rodriguez-Rizo and Kaneko are 0-1.
Following the match against Murray State, women's tennis heads to Tennessee State on Sunday for a match that starts at 1:30 p.m.
