KENNESAW, Ga. – Jax State women's tennis dropped their final road match of the regular season 4-0 at Kennesaw State Friday.
The match kicked off with Kennesaw clinching the doubles point. On court one,
Polina Ramenskaja and
Aneka Patel were beaten 6-1 by the Owls' Ema Baraniakova and Sofia Madrid. Kennesaw took the doubles point when Maria Ivankovic and Irene Serrano downed
Alba Roche and
Emma Montagner 6-2 on court two.
On doubles court three,
Irene Artigas and
Sae Kaneko were tied 4-4 with Rianna Coreisa and Laura Nadaska when the match was abandoned due to Kennesaw winning the doubles point.
In singles, the first court to finish was court two. Patel was beaten 6-0, 6-2 by Madrid on court two. On court five, Montagner was beaten 6-1, 6-1 by Serrano to put the Owls up 3-0. Kennesaw clinched the match when Baraniakova defeated Ramenskaja 6-1, 7-5 on court one.
Artigas lost her first set on court three 6-3 to Ivankovic before taking the second set 6-3. Artigas's match was unfinished before the third set began.
Isabella Sambola won her opening set 6-4 against Nadaska. Nadaska was leading 4-2 when the match was unfinished. Kaneko took her first set 6-1 against Baraniakova before the second set was tied 5-5 when the match was abandoned.
The Gamecocks conclude the regular season at home Sunday against Georgia State. Prior to the match, Ramenskaja, Artigas, and Sambola will be honored for senior day.
