JACKSONVILLE – Jax State women's tennis closes out the regular season Sunday at 1 p.m. against Georgia State at home. Prior to the match, Jax State's three seniors will be recognized for senior day. Senior day festivities begin at 12:20 p.m.
 
The Gamecocks' last match resulted in a 4-0 loss at Kennesaw State on Friday, April 10. Jax State is 12-6 on the year with one more match before the CUSA Tennis Championships Tournament next week.
 
This season, Jax State is 44-34 in singles play. Freshman Sae Kaneko leads the Gamecocks with an 11-2 mark. Senior Irene Artigas follows Kaneko with a 9-1 record this year. Other top singles performers for Jax State include Aneka Patel and Polina Ramenskaja with a 7-6 record.
 
In doubles, Jax State is 27-16. Kaneko is 11-4, Ramenskaja is 11-6, Artigas is 10-2, and Patel is 10-5 to highlight the top doubles players. Isabella Sambola is 4-2, Angeles Rodriguez-Rizo is 6-4, Emma Montagner is 2-5, and Alaba Roche is 0-4 to round out the roster in doubles.
 
The top doubles team for the Gamecocks this season has been Ramenskaja/Patel who have a team-high 10-5 record. Kaneko/Artigas have impressed with a 5-0 record, Sambola/Artigas are 4-1 together, and Rodriguez-Rizo/Kaneko are 6-4, respectively.
 
Georgia State is 5-10 on the season and will host Appalachian State in their season finale on April 19. The Panthers are coming off a 4-1 home loss to Middle Tennessee on March 26. Georgia State hosts Louisiana Tech on Saturday before traveling West Sunday to face Jax State.
 
Following the match against Georgia State, the Gamecocks will head to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the CUSA Tournament which starts on April 15. The championship match is scheduled for April 18. More information will be available on JaxStateSports.com when the bracket is set.
