MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Jax State women's tennis is set to face the Delaware Blue Hens Thursday at 10 a.m. in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 CUSA Tennis Championship Tournament. The match will take place at Middle Tennessee State who is hosting both the men's and women's tennis tournaments.
The Gamecocks earned the five-seed in the tournament and will be facing the four-seeded Blue Hens Thursday. The Gamecocks finished the regular season with a 12-6 record and had an impressive win over No. 58 ranked South Alabama on March 21.
Jax State most recently defeated Georgia State 4-0 on Sunday, April 12, at home. In the match against Georgia State,
Sae Kaneko clinched the sweep with her singles win on court five against Mia Petrovic. Kaneko took the first set 6-3 then claimed the second set with a 6-2. Jax State took the doubles point before claiming three singles matches against the Panthers.
Kaneko leads the way for Jax State with a 12-2 singles record.
Irene Artigas has the next best record with a 10-1 mark on the year, while
Aneka Patel and
Polina Ramenskaja are tied at 7-6. The Gamecocks are 47-34 in singles as a team.
In doubles, Kaneko has a team-best 12-4 record, Ramenskaja is 12-6, Artigas is 11-2, Patel is 11-5,
Isabella Sambola is 4-2, and
Angeles Rodriguez-Rizo is 6-4. The doubles pairing of Patel/Ramenskaja lead the Gamecocks with an 11-5 record, while Kaneko/Artigas are 6-0 together.
Delaware, who went 19-4, is coming off a 4-1 win against Drexel on April 12 in their final match of the season.
The Blue Hens went 145-55 in singles as a squad. Delaware was led by Lara Russiniello who went 24-7, Hanna Vinahradava went 23-3, Navya Vadlamudi went 19-7, Maryia Hrynashka went 18-9, Ameilia Gorman went 18-10, and Paulina Jurkowska went 16-9 to round out the top performers for Delaware.
In doubles, Delaware went 78-24 in 2026. The Blue Hens were led by Hrynashka/Jurkowska who went 24-8 together. Gorman/Vadlamudi were 17-3 together, while Katie Dollens/Russiniello were 15-3, respectively.
The winner of Jax State and Delaware will move on to the semifinals to face the winner of LA Tech and Western Kentucky/Sam Houston on Friday at 10 a.m.
