DALLAS — Jax State catcher
Makalyn Kyser was selected as the Conference USA Softball Player of the week by the league office on Monday.
The senior played a pivotal role for the Gamecocks this past weekend in the series sweep over Missouri State on the road. In three games, Kyser batted 6-for-8 against the Bears, batting in a total of 12 runs, including three home runs with two of them coming in the same game.
On Saturday's contest against Missouri State, Kyser picked up eight RBIs, earning her the second-most in a game in school history. Kyser's efforts played a large factor in the program-high 25 runs scored in the matchup.
The Springville, Ala. native is Jax State's leading home run hitter with seven on the year, along with leading the team in RBIs as well with 41.
The Gamecocks will travel to Alabama State on Tuesday evening, followed by a trip to Chattanooga on Wednesday.
