KENNESAW, Ga. – Jax State women's tennis returns to action Friday against Kennesaw State. The match at Kennesaw State is set for a 9 a.m. central, 10 a.m. eastern, first-serve.
The Gamecocks are coming off a 4-1 victory against Western Kentucky at home on March 27. In the win against the Hilltoppers, Jax State took the doubles point then clinched the victory thanks to
Polina Ramenskaja's 6-3, 6-3 win over Isabelle Einess on singles court one.
Women's tennis is currently 12-5 on the season. The Gamecocks are 44-31 this year in singles play.
Sae Kaneko leads the team with an 11-2 singles record. Meanwhile,
Irene Artigas has the next best record at 9-1.
Aneka Patel and Ramenskaja are tied at 7-5 in singles,
Emma Montagner is 3-2,
Alba Roche is 2-3,
Isabella Sambola is 3-6, and
Angeles Rodriguez-Rizo is 2-7, respectively.
In doubles action, Jax State is 27-14 as a team. Ramenskaja and Kaneko both have 11 wins to lead the way for the Gamecocks. Ramenskaja is 11-5 on the season, and Kaneko is 11-4. Also, Patel and Artigas both have 10 wins, thus far. Artigas is 10-2, while Patel is 10-4. Rodriguez-Rizo is 6-4, Sambola is 4-2, Montagner is 2-4, and Roche is 0-2.
The doubles pairing of Ramenskaja and Patel are 10-4 on the year. Meanwhile, Kaneko and Artigas are a perfect 5-0 when playing together. Other top doubles teams include Artigas/Sambola at 4-1, Rodriguez-Rizo/Kaneko at 6-4, and Ramenskaja/Montagner at 1-0.
Kennesaw State currently sits at 10-5 this spring. The Owls are coming off a 4-1 victory against New Mexico State on April 3. The Owls are currently 41-33 in singles and 24-15 in doubles.
The Owls are led by Sofia Madrid who is 8-3 in singles play. Terezia Baraniakova is 7-3, Ema Baraniakova is 7-6, and Maria Ivankovic is 6-5 to round out the top singles performers for Kennesaw State. In doubles the pairing of Baraniakova and Madrid lead the way with a 10-4 mark on the year. Following the leading pairing, Ivankovic and Irne Serrano are 7-3 in doubles play.
Following the match at Kennesaw State, the Gamecocks host Georgia State Sunday, April 12, at 1 p.m. Prior to the first-serve, Jax State will honor their three seniors at 12:20.
