
Gamecock Football Rolls To 38-17 OVC Win Over Southeast Missouri

JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State racked up 456 yards of offense en route to a 38-17 Ohio Valley Conference win over Southeast Missouri State (2-4, 0-2 OVC) in front 8,917 fans at Paul Snow Stadium on Saturday night.
It was the fourth-straight game the JSU offense gained 400 or more yards, the longest such streak for the Gamecocks (4-1, 2-0 OVC) since closing the 2005 season with seven straight games with at least 400 yards.
Junior Ryan Perrilloux completed 16-of-22 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns, his second-straight game with over 200 passing yards. It was the first time in the LaPlace,
Senior Maurice Dupree caught a touchdown pass and returned a kickoff for a touchdown while freshman Brandon George, who entered the game with just 13 career rushing yards, became the third different Gamecock to rush for 100-plus yards this season with 11 carries for 114 yards and a touchdown.
The Gamecocks improved to 32-4 overall and 19-2 at home when scoring 30 or more points under Head Coach Jack Crowe and gained at least 300 yards of total offense for the 36th time in 42 Ohio Valley Conference contests.
JSU's third possession of the game provided the first points of the night. George took a pitch on the option from Perrilloux and raced 59 yards to the end zone. Senior Gavin Hallford's PAT gave JSU a 7-0 lead with 3:52 left in the first quarter. The play was the longest rush from scrimmage for JSU this season and accounted for over four times more yards than George had before the carry.
A 35-yard pass from Perrilloux to James Wilkerson put JSU deep into SEMO territory to close the first quarter, setting up a seven-yard touchdown pass from Perrilloux to junior Eric Johns to open the second quarter. Hallford added the PAT to give the Gamecocks a 14-0 lead with 14:57 remaining in the half.
The Redhawks put their first points on board on their first drive of the second quarter. Doug Spada's 46-yard field goal attempt split the uprights to cut the JSU lead to 14-3 at the 11:20 mark of the second quarter.

The Gamecock offense took advantage of the turnover by adding a 37-yard field goal by Hallford with 36 seconds left in the third to up the JSU lead to 31-3.
SEMO's Michael Williamson caught a five-yard touchdown pass from Lillard with 12:46 showing on the fourth quarter clock to cut the deficit to 31-10. The touchdown was the first against the Gamecock defense since the fourth quarter of the Alabama A&M game, a span of 11 quarters, and the first passing score against JSU this season.
Freshman Marques Ivory led JSU on its final scoring drive of the night, hooking up with junior Jeffrey Cameron for an 11-yard touchdown with 4:28 to play. The pass was Ivory's second touchdown pass of his career and the first career touchdown reception for Cameron.
The Redhawks tried to make things interesting late in the game when Walter Peoples caught a 49-yard touchdown pass from Matt Scheible with 3:41 on the clock to cut the deficit to 31-17.
SEMO recovered an onside kick on the ensuing kickoff but came up short when a Lillard pass fell incomplete on fourth and goal from the JSU one.
