Gamecocks Roll Past Tennessee Tech 55-28

JACKSONVILLE – Senior Ryan Perrilloux scored five touchdowns and had 306 yards of total offense to lead Jacksonville State to a 55-28 Ohio Valley Conference win over Tennessee Tech on Saturday.

The Gamecocks improve to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the OVC, while Tech drops to 5-5 and 4-3 in the conference.

Perrilloux finished 13-for-22 for 223 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing eight times for a career-high 103 yards and two touchdowns. It marks the third time this season the LaPlace, La., native has scored five touchdowns in a game.

Jax State's offense rolled up 584 yards on 70 plays, including a season-high 355 yards on the ground. Jamal Young finished with 93 rushing yards and a score, while Drec Lindley had 73 yards with one touchdown and Calvin Middleton added 49 yards and a touchdown.

Perrilloux opened the scoring by scoring a 48 yard touchdown run with 13:24 left in the first quarter and scored on a 10 yard run. Perrilloux had two touchdown passes to Greg Smith for 24 yards and 15 yards, while also throwing a 75 yard pass to James Wilkerson.

Jax State built a 28-14 lead at the half after rolling up 339 yards of total offense and was 7-for-9 on third down conversions in the opening half. TTU got on the board after Henry Sailes scored on a three yard run and Lee Sweeney added a one-yard run.

The Gamecocks, which scored on their final seven possessions of the game, built a 48-14 lead after Young scored on a 48-yard run with 7:03 left in the third quarter.

Tech added a pair of touchdowns when Zack Ziegler scored on a two-yard run and Wilkerson added a one-yard run in the fourth quarter, while Middleton scored from four yards out for the Gamecocks for the final margin.

Wilkerson finished with 93 receiving yards on four catches, while Smith added 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns to lead six Gamecock receivers.

Sweeney was 8-for-11 for 118 yards to lead Tennessee Tech, while Sailes rushed for 63 yards on seven carries.

Alexander Henderson led all defensive players with a game-high 12 tackles, which marks the sixth straight game with double-digit tackles.

Jacksonville State will play its final game of the season next Saturday against Eastern Kentucky. Kickoff is set for 12 noon at Paul Snow Stadium.

POST GAME NOTES VS. TENNESSEE TECH
- Captains for the Gamecocks: Senior WR James Wilkerson, senior OL Reggie Wade, senior defensive lineman Brandt Thomas and senior linebacker Alexander Henderson.
- Tennessee Tech won the coin toss and deferred to the second half.
- The Gamecocks are now 9-4 all-time against the Golden Eagles and are 5-1 against TTU in Jacksonville.
- JSU improves to 232-93-8 in games at Paul Snow Stadium and are 33-16 at home under Jack Crowe.
- Senior Ryan Perrilloux threw three touchdowns and ran for two more on Saturday, tying his career-high of five touchdowns responsible for. He threw for four and ran for one at Nicholls State and threw for three and ran for two at Alabama A&M., both in 2009.
- Perrilloux ran for a career-high 103 yards on eight carries, making him the team's second 100-yard rusher this season.
- Senior James Wilkerson's 93 receiving yards on Saturday gives him 1,654 on the season, moving him into fourth on the school's all-time receiving yards list.

- Ryan Perrilloux threw for 223 yards on Saturday, giving him 4,477 in his career, which ranks sixth on the school's career passing yards list. His three touchdown passes give him 41 in his career, whicg ranks third.
- The Gamecocks ran for 351 on Saturday, their first 300-yard rushing game since Sept. 20, 2008 vs. Chattanooga (322). The last time they ran for 400 yards in a game was Sept. 10, 2004, also vs. UTC (434).
- Ryan Perrilloux's 48-yard touchdown run with 13:24 to play in the first quarter was the longest rush of his career and the longest of the season for JSU. It was also the earliest offensive touchdown JSU has scored in 2009.
- Drec Lindley's 17-yard catch on a screen pass in the first quarter was the first of his career, making him the 16th different JSU player that has at least one catch in 2009. He scored his first career touchdown on a 15-yard run later in the drive.
- Perrilloux has now thrown and ran for a touchdown in the same game five times this season and seven times as a Gamecock. He achieved the feat once in his career at LSU.
- Senior Ryan Perrilloux has now thrown at least one touchdown pass in 19 of his 20 games at JSU.
- With their 28-14 halftime lead, the Gamecocks have now outscored their FCS opponents in the first half this season, 179-44.
- Jamal Young's 48-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was the longest of his career and tied Perrilloux's first-quarter run for the longest of the season by JSU.
- JSU's 55 points marks the most against an OVC school since scoring 55 against Samford on Nov. 11, 2006. JSU scored 59 at UT Martin on Oct. 9, 2004.
- Senior Greg Smith caught six passes for 82 yardsand two touchdowns on Saturday, all three earning him new career highs.
