Gamecock Men’s and Women’s Tennis Split With Troy

JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State men's tennis escaped with a 4-3 win over Troy University while the women's team lost a 6-1 decision at the JSU Tennis Courts on Tuesday.
The Gamecocks (7-1) captured wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to the doubles point heading into singles. Eduardo Saratt and Scott Robertson defeated Ben Chomette and Bastain Maucher, 9-8 at No. 2 while Chris Duke and Steffen Solomon captured an 8-4 win over Aurelien Tave and Guilherme Sahadi at No. 3 doubles.
JSU claimed three of the six singles matches to capture the win. Saratt beat Branko Webber 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles while Bernardo Bachino won 6-2, 6-3 over Chomatte at No. 3 and Duke won a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Maucher at No. 5.
The Troy women (4-6) claimed all three doubles matches to win the doubles point and then claimed five of six single matches. Eloah Lopes defeated Stephanie Vieira 5-7, 6-2, and 10-8 in the super tiebreaker for the Gamecock women's (6-2) lone singles win.
Jacksonville State is back in action at the JSU Tennis Courts, hosting Alabama State on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
