LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Jacksonville State women's golf team carded a 325 in Sunday's final round to finish 13th at the University of Kentucky's Betty Lou Evans Fall Invitational.
Senior
Lucia Fernandez Valdes led the Gamecocks with a 78 on Sunday to finish tied for 28th in the 90-player field and help JSU to the 13th-place finish on the par-72, 6,360-yard Big Blue course at the University Club of Kentucky.
The host and 29th-ranked Wildcats won the 16-team tournament with a 60-over 924, eight shots better than second-place UCF. Augusta State claimed third, while No. 48 Michigan and No. 8 Illinois rounded out the top five.
The Gamecocks finished the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a 976, three shots behind Mississippi State.
Fernandez-Valdes rounded out the weekend with a three-day total of 239 to lead the Gamecocks, while sophomore
Lourdes Lopez Caballo finished 39th with a 242 (79-82-81). Senior
Astrid Parsson (85-80-80-245) tied for 48th, and Junior
Ornella Arrizon (79-85-92-256) tied for 76th. Freshman
Elise Strutt (89-88-86-263) rounded out JSU's lineup in 87th.
