The third tournament of the Jax State women's golf season takes place in Las Cruces, N.M. at the Golf Iconic Classic at the New Mexico State Golf Course.
Just one tournament remains in the fall portion of the schedule after the trip out west.
In the first two tournaments of the season, the Gamecocks have battled through some loaded fields at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic and the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee.
Sophomore
Rebekka Stutley and senior
Ebby Somers led the way in Knoxville with 54-hole scores of +10. Stutley posted rounds of 77, 72, and 74 on the Par 71 course and Somers had totals of 76, 73, and 74.
Freshman
Julie Kleppe leads the team with 14 birdies followed by
Lara El Chaib and Stutley with 13 each.
Rachel Camp has a team-best 63 pars in six rounds.
In the first round in Las Cruces, Jax State will play with players from the host Aggies, Northern Arizona, and San Diego State. The rest of the 19-team field includes UC Riverside, Long Beach State, UT Arlington, Santa Clara, Northern Colorado, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, UTEP, Southern Utah, Nevada, Boise State, Eastern Kentucky, Sacramento State, Incarnate Word, Houston Christian, and UC Irvine.
The first-round shotgun start will commence at 9:30 a.m. Central with Jax State players starting on holes 8-11.
