JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team will wrap up its home schedule against Austin Peay at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night on Dollar to Holler Night. All General Admission Tickets are just $1.
The Gamecocks welcome Austin Peay to Pete Mathews Coliseum for their final home game of the season and the final game in Pete Mathews Coliseum for three members of the Jacksonville State basketball program. Fourth-year seniors
Nick Murphy and
Jeremy Bynum and second-year senior
Sean Thurston will put on the white uniforms for the final time in hopes of getting back in the win column.
With just two three games remaining and two in conference play, the Gamecocks are looking to finish the season on a positive note, but have a tough task in front of them in the visiting Govs. A win over Austin Peay would be just the second in 17 meetings in the all-time series and the first since 2006.
JSU is looking to snap a two-game losing streak that saw them fall on the road at UT Martin and first-place Murray State last week. On Saturday in Murray, Ky., the Gamecocks led the Racers for the first 32 minutes of the game before dropping a 60-59 decision. In the loss, freshman
Brian Williams scored 16 points, while Murphy grabbed 12 boards. Juniors
Stephen Hall and
B.J. Miller pitched in 12 and 11 points, respectively for the Gamecocks.
The Govs took the first meeting of the season on Jan. 22, an 80-66 win over JSU in Clarksville, Tenn.
APSU is led on the season by Junior TyShwan Edmondson, whose 17.5 points per game lead the Ohio Valley Conference. The junior college transfer is also in the top five in assists and the top 20 in the league in rebounding. He scored 23 in the Govs' win over JSU in January.
