JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State head soccer coach Julie Davis Carlson announced the 2011 recruiting class on Monday. Carlson added a total of ten newcomers that will arrive for the 2011 season.
The class includes a pair of in-state signees as Huntsville's Courtney Hurt and Albertville's Chloe Kennedy inked with the Gamecocks during the Spring signing period. Carlson also reached into the soccer talent-rich state of Texas to ink four from the Lone Star State. The class includes a trio from the state of Georgia and one from the Tampa, Florida area.
"The 2011 soccer year and signing class will be a very exciting one. We feel that we are at a turning point in our program. The 2011 class will add athleticism to our current roster. They bring an attitude of hard work, high achievement, enthusiasm and passion not only to the game of soccer, but to their academic studies as well,” said head coach Julie Davis Carlson. “As we learn and grow in the collegiate environment year to year, the group of players continues to learn and grow. As a coaching staff, we feel these players bring several attributes to the soccer field with their speed, athleticism, goal scoring ability, skill level, versatility and competitive nature - and most of all, they love to win. We thank everyone at JSU who has helped our program continue to build a great recruiting class of not only good players, but also good people,” added Carlson.
