Waldhart scores first collegiate goal in 62'
JACKSONVILLE — Jax State was less than a minute away from three points in the conference standings and vaulting into a tie for third in the league standings.
With 46 seconds left, Lily Sargent-Burns took a long shot near midfield which found a spot between the crossbar and Jax State keeper Camdyn Magrosky to tie the game 1-1 with each side picking up their fifth point of the year in the league standings.
After a scoreless first half that saw the visitors recording the lone shot on goal, the Gamecocks broke through in the 62nd minute on a header by Nerina Waldhart for her first goal of the season which was served into the box by Michelle Hochstadt on a corner kick. It was Hochstadt's first assist of the year and fifth point of the season. Hochstadt nearly pushed it to 2-0 with a shot off the crossbar in the 72nd.
Magrosky finished with a pair of saves on the night.
Up next for Jax State is a trip to Western Kentucky on Thursday, which is two points ahead of the Gamecocks in the Conference USA standings.
