JSU Women Tie For 8th at Kiawah Island Intercollegiate

FINAL RESULTS

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Jacksonville State women's golf team carded another 307 in Tuesday's final round of the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, tying for eighth place in the three-day event.

Junior Ornella Arrizon led the way for the Gamecocks on the final 18 holes of the 54-hole event, turning in a final round 75 on the par-72, 6,001-yard Cougar Point Golf Course. She led JSU to finish with a 54-hole total of 919, finishing the Gamecocks in a tie with Old Dominion in the 33-team field. Augusta State won the team title with a 13-over 877. The only other Ohio Valley Conference team in the event was Morehead State, who finished in 20th, 18 shots behind the Gamecocks.

Individually for JSU, senior Astrid Parsson shot a 78 on Tuesday, dropping the Malmo, Sweden, native into a tie for 26th place in the 179-player field. Junior Luz Armijo-Fernandez also tied for 26th with a 54-hole total of 227, thanks to her third-round 76. Arrizon's 75 pulled her into a tie for 38th, while senior Lucia Fernandez-Valdes tied for 84th after a 78 on Tuesday. Sophomore Lourdes Lopez Caballo also shot a 78, finishing her in a tie for 124th.

UNC-Greensboro's Fanny Cnops claimed medalisty honors with a two-under 214 after a 71 on Tuesday. She led UNCG to a second-place finish.

The Gamecocks will return to the links on March 12-13 at the Lady Eagles Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss.
