GADSDEN, Ala. - The Jacksonville State women's tennis team won its third Ohio Valley Conference match in a row with a 4-3 decision over Southeast Missouri on Sunday at the Gadsden Tennis Complex.<br />

The JSU men dropped a 5-2 OVC affair to Tennessee Tech.<br />
<br />
After dropping its first three league matches, the Gamecock women have rallied off 4-3 wins over Eastern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville and SEMO. Sunday's win positioned Jax State for a spot in the OVC Tournament later in April with three conference matches left.<br />
<br />
On the men's side, the Golden Eagles of TTU remained perfect in league play, while the Red and White fell to 3-2 in the OVC.<br />

Sophomore
Raisa Guasti's straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 win over SEMO's Nikole Novikova clinched the match for JSU. Jax State took the early lead in the match with the doubles point. Guasti and
Raphaela Lima blanked SEMO's duo of Novikova and Melissa Martin, 8-0. Aleksandra Cmilijic and
Kelly Tomlin teamed up to edge Elizabeth Nyenwe and Lauren Schaper, 9-7.<br />

Cmilijic made quick work of her singles oppoenent, Laura Garcia, 6-1, 6-1. Cmilijic moved to 3-1 against OVC foes. Lima posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory over SEMO's Martin.<br />

In the men's match, TTU gained the edge after posting the doubles point. After the two teams split at No. 2 and 3 doubles, the point came down to No. 1 doubles. Tech's tandem of Alex Chen and Syrym Abdukhalikov edged JSU's pairing of
Axel Sundberg and
Nenad Marcec, 9-8. JSU's
Jordan Cowling and
Igor Santos moved to 3-1 in OVC play with an 8-2 win over Vasily Eremeev and Artem Tarasov.<br />
<br />
Santos notched the Gamecocks' first point in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Chen. Santos moved to 14-2 on the season at No. 2 and remained perfect against OVC competition with his Sunday win. <br />
<br />
Freshman
Jordan Cowling also kept his unblemished OVC record intact with a 6-1, 7-6 win over Tarasov at No. 4.<br />
<br />
Nenad Marcec saw his 11-match winning streak halted with a 6-0, 6-4 setback to Alex Augusto.<br />
<br />
Both JSU squads travel to Murray State and Austin Peay next weekend. JSU will visit the Racers of MSU on Friday, April 6 before a Saturday, April 7 duel with Austin Peay.
