JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's and women's tennis teams returned to the win column in Ohio Valley Conference play with a pair of 5-2 wins over Eastern Illinois at the JSU Tennis Courts on Saturday.
The JSU women improved to 5-2 in the league and 10-10 overall, while EIU suffered just its fourth loss of the season and also stands at 5-2 in OVC play after Saturday's match.  The Gamecock men moved to 4-2 against the OVC and 8-11 on the season.  With the pair of wins, JSU is a combined 9-1 on the season in home matches and unblemished in OVC home matches.
Jax State closes out its OVC home slate on Sunday as SIU Edwardsville will visit for a 10 a.m. match.
In the men's match, the Panthers of EIU took the early lead by winning the doubles point.  EIU was extended in two of the three doubles matches in tie breaker situations, but came out on top at No. 1 and No. 3.  At No. 1, EIU's Michael Sperry and Warren Race claimed a 9-8 (7) win over JSU's duo of 
Axel Sundberg and 
Nenad Marcec.  The doubles point was clinched after David Constantinescu and Rui Silva turned back Jax State's team of 
Felipe Watanabe and 
Felipe Diaz, 9-8 (6).
JSU regrouped in singles play by winning five of the six singles matches.  Senior 
Igor Santos moved to 5-1 versus the OVC with a three-set win over Sperry.  Santos split the first two sets before closing out with a 6-1 third-set win.  Senior 
Nenad Marcec quick-worked Robert Skolik – 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.  Senior 
Axel Sundberg put away Race in straight sets – 7-5, 7-5.  Diaz and Silva battled to a third-and-deciding set with Diaz coming out on top with a 6-1 win.  
Felipe Wenzel turned in a 7-5, 6-2 win over EIU's Kevin Bauman.
The JSU women came out strong in doubles play and continued the momentum into singles play.  The Red and White won at No. 1 and No. 2 to clinch the point.  
Raisa Guasti and 
Raphaela Lima ousted EIU's pairing of Janelle Prisner and Merritt Whitley, 8-4.  Playing together for the first time together this season, Aleksandra Cmilijic and 
Olivia Nguyen tallied an 8-5 win over Sephora Boulbahaiem and Hannah Kimbrough, 8-5.
Guasti and Prisner had a duel at No. 1 with Guasti posting a 6-1, 6-3 win over Prisner.  He win pushed her conference mark to 6-1. JSU picked up wins at the bottom half of the line up with victories at No. 4, 5, 6.  
Zoe Bizinos dropped the first set to Jennifer Kim, but bounced back to win 7-5, 10-6.  
Danielle Kerindi carded a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 5.  
Kelly Tomlin moved to 5-1 in the OVC with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Kristen Laird.
