Opening Comments:
"It was a big game being the first game, and going in to the game you have all the emotions and the lead up to it was everything like we had wanted it to be. The lightning delay caused us to step back and adjust. We always talk about adversity and when you go on the road and play a quality opponent. Just like any first game, there is a lot that we want to improve on and we need to fix. We saw a lot of good things and our effort was excellent and we made some adjustments at halftime. I really think our defense played well throughout the game and we saw some things that we have to get corrected. Every area of our team has work to do and we'll be the first to tell you that. But, our guys found a way to find a way to win, and that is the name of the game. I am very excited and proud of them, yet knowing we have tons of work to do and that starts today."
On Jacksonville:
"I think it starts with a quality head coach (Kerwin Bell). You go back and look at what they have done since they have been there, and I know within their conference they have won it several times. They score a ton of points and with the head coach being the offensive coordinator; you would expect them to be good. Now, you top that off with his son being the quarterback. You have a guy that has an imminent knowledge of what his dad wants – which to me is scary. I think they are starting to keep some of those Jacksonville guys and they are extremely well coached, and look at who they just played. If you have talked about Delaware, I think 2010 they were playing for the national championship. Jacksonville is up 14-0 on them last week and it was not because of fluke plays. They looked good offensively and won the special teams game against Delaware. They do a lot of things different on defense. They give a lot of multiple looks and challenge you. They look like teams in our conference. The guy that stands out to me is their wide receiver, Andrew Robustelli, who is a big guy and can run. They are going to mix the run in and it's a spread mentality."
On Max Shortell:
"He did everything we asked him to do. He is a guy that came off the bench and was ready to go. He came in and played like that. He went in with a smile on his face and that is what you want in a guy."
On Brenton Tolson:
"Obviously, he is the hero of the game and I told him as we were going off the field – that is something you will have for the rest of your life to make that big play. The thing about him, every since the first day we got here, is he has been a leader. We have a great group of linebackers and he is the leader of that group.
On Brandon Bender:
"He had a ton of solo tackles and another vocal leader on our team, who backs it up. He is playing at strong safety and can be free to make those plays."
On playing at home:
"I am excited to be at home and around our folks. We want to do well for our guys, our town and our home folks. I am excited for our community to see how hard these guys have worked."
