
Blazers Rally for 14-9 Win Over Jax State

JACKSONVILLE – Chase Davis had three hits and drove in three runs as UAB claimed a 14-9 win over Jacksonville State at Rudy Abbott Field on Wednesday evening.
The two teams played four inning prior to this game after Tuesday's game was halted due to rain, and the game ended close to midnight.
Ronnie Smith (1-1) scattered two hits and had four strikeouts to earn his first win of the season for the Blazers, while Michael McCreless lasted just 1/3 inning and gave up four runs to suffer the loss for the Gamecocks.
JSU (10-6) jumped on top with a run in the first, but the Blazers scored five in the second for a 5-1 lead.
Jax State then scored two in the second and fourth innings to tie the game at 5-5, before taking the lead in the fifth inning on a RBI double by Peyton Williams.
UAB took an 8-6 lead in the sixth inning, before Paschal Petrongolo and Tyler Gamble each drove in a run and Gamble scored on a wild pitch to give JSU a 9-8 lead.
The Blazers then scored five runs in the seventh, highlighted by a two-RBI double by Jacob Armstrong, and the final run was scored in the eighth inning for the final margin.
Andrew Bishop, Cal Lambert and Gamble each had two hits to lead the Gamecocks.
Jacksonville State returns to action with a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series at SIU-Edwardsville this weekend. All three games can be heard on the JSU Radio Network.
