PADUCAH, Ky. – After leading the Jacksonville State men's tennis team to its third Ohio Valley Conference regular season title, head coach
in doubles as the duo tallied an 11-4 overall mark and 3-3 in the OVC. Gee finished his first season in the OVC with a 7-1 mark and has won his last six matches against OVC competitors. He enters the OVC Championship having won eight of his last nine matches.
Wendler-Filho has also been a mainstay in the line up and a contributor throughout the 2014 campaign. The Sao Paulo, Brazil-native turned in a league-best 17 wins, including a 13-1 mark at No. 4. Wendler-Filho was nearly perfect in OVC play as he posted an 8-1 mark in his first collegiate season. His only league loss came while playing at No. 3 against Eastern Illinois' Ryan Henderson. Felipe Wenzel in doubles as the tandem has registered a 5-0 mark in conference play.
Guasti closed out her decorative career last week in the regular season finale against Morehead State. The JSU women finished the 2014 campaign with a 9-14 overall mark and a 5-5 record in the OVC. The Gamecocks finished in a three-way tie for sixth with UT Martin and Eastern Illinois, but lost out on a tie breaker to advance to the postseason event in Paducah, Ky. Guasti was among the OVC leaders in her final season on the courts. The Vitoria, Brazil-native finished 8-2 in singles, which ranked second in the league. With her eight wins in 2014, Guasti wraps up her OVC career with a 28-9 career mark. She concludes her Gamecock stint playing in 93 matches and carding an overall mark of 50-43.
The Gamecocks await the winner of the opening-round match between SIU Edwardsville and Morehead State match on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Heflin Tennis Center.
