
Gamecock Softball Set To Host Big Weekend Of OVC Action

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State softball team will wrap up its Ohio Valley Conference schedule this weekend at University Field with a lot on the line.
The Gamecocks (30-12, 14-4 OVC) will host a pair of doubleheaders to wrap up the conference season, welcoming UT Martin on Friday and Southeast Missouri on Saturday. Play will begin at 1 p.m. on both days and all games will be streamed on ESPN+.
JSU enters the weekend in first place in the league standings but are less than one game ahead of Southeast Missouri. The Redhawks (35-14, 12-4 OVC) have the league's best overall record but trail the Gamecocks by just 28 percentage points. SEMO will play a doubleheader at Tennessee Tech on Friday, while the Gamecocks battle UT Martin.
The Skyhawks (27-22, 8-8 OVC) enter the weekend in a tie for sixth in the league standings and are fighting for position in the upcoming conference tournament. The top four seeds will receive a first-round bye in the tournament held at Oxford's Choccolocco Park from May 8-11, while the 5th-8thseeds will play a single-elimination play-in game to start the tournament.
