MONROE, La. – Jacksonville State's return to the softball field was cut short by weather on Saturday, when the remainder of the Best on the Bayou Tournament was canceled.
The Gamecocks first action in 11 months was cut from two games to one on Friday due to frigid weather in the Monroe area. An announcement on Friday night cut Saturday's schedule from two games to one, but a later assessment on Saturday ended what was supposed to be a three-day event.
The Gamecocks will now turn their attention to next week, when they are scheduled to play five games in Birmingham. JSU will play a twinbill at Samford on Friday before facing Louisiana and Southeastern Louisiana in UAB's Green & Gold Tournament on Saturday. They will wrap up the weekend with a Sunday afternoon contest against the Blazers.
