JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State women's tennis squad earned its second Ohio Valley Conference victory in as many matches Saturday with a 5-2 win over SIUE at the JSU Tennis Courts.

A day after downing Eastern Illinois, the Gamecocks (7-6, 2-0 OVC) saw
Malin Buechner,
Carolina Bulatovic Harriet Hamilton and
Dariana Prato each improve to 2-0 in league singles play against the Cougars (7-4, 0-1 OVC). The Jax State win snapped a three-match winning streak for SIUE and handed the northern foe its first conference loss.

Buechner and Bulatovic won the first doubles set 6-1 over Jill Lambrechts, and Hamilton and
Charlie Croteau outdueled Jordan Schifano and Callaghan Adams 7-6 at No. 2 as the duo recorded their team-leading 11th doubles win of the year.

Leading 1-0 after doubles, Bulatovic and Buechner made it a 3-0 contest with back-to-back, two-set wins at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively.

Nicole Gomez got the Cougars on the board with a pair of 6-3 set wins over
Sara Jamal at No. 5, but Prato's three-set victory over Fabiola Perez at No. 4 secured the match for JSU. The freshman won her first set 6-2 and overcame a 7-6 loss in the second with a 6-4 win in the third.

A three-set win at No. 2 for Hamilton added a fifth point, while Adams salvaged a second point for SIUE with a three-set win over
Balsen Kaya at No. 6.

Jax State steps out of conference play one last time on Tuesday, March 23 when the team visits Alabama State. Match time in Montgomery is set for 1 p.m.
