JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State softball team will begin its fall exhibition schedule this week, when the Gamecocks host Pensacola State on Friday in Jacksonville and then host the Tera Ross Memorial Tournament at Choccolocco Park on Saturday.
The Gamecocks will welcome Pensacola State to campus for a 5 p.m. game at University Field on Friday, kicking off a seven-game fall schedule for Jax State. Admission is free for all fall games at University Field.
Saturday's 15
th Annual Tera Ross Memorial Tournament will be held at Oxford's Choccolocco Park, where the Gamecocks will play twice. They will take on Wallace State-Hanceville at 10 a.m. and the face Calhoun Community College at 11:45 a.m. All of JSU's games will be played on Field 1. Admission to the tournament is $5 per person, which will allow you to watch any of the 13 games that will be played over five fields at the facility. Parking is $5 per vehicle.
The tournament is named in the memory of former Jacksonville State pitcher Tera Ross, a three-time letterwinner that was killed in an automobile accident just before her senior season.
As a junior in 2003, Ross led the team with a 1.17 earned run average, still the third-lowest in school history. She ranks in the top five in Jacksonville State's career record books in four categories: strikeouts, innings, wins and games started.

Following the Tera Ross Memorial Tournament, the Gamecocks will play four more fall games. They will take on Alabama on Wednesday in Albertville, a rescheduling of the Sand Mountain Showdown that was rained out twice in the 2022 season. The game is sold out and will be played at Albertville's Sand Mountain Park.
Jax State will then host Southern Union on Oct. 18 at 5 p.m. before returning to Choccolocco Park on Oct. 21 to face Georgia at 6:30 p.m. The Gamecocks will wrap up the fall at home on Oct. 25 against Snead State.
