Women's Tennis Hosts UNF and Stetson in Weekend Slate

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team will host North Florida and Stetson this weekend in ASUN Conference action at the JSU Tennis Courts.
JSU will face North Florida at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 1 and Stetson on Sunday, April 3, at 10 a.m. Sunday's match against Stetson is Senior Day and will honor seniors Carolina Bulatovic and Balsen Kaya. Bulatovic is in her fifth year competing for JSU and Kaya is in her fourth. The pair are the only two upperclassmen on the team.
The Gamecocks enter the two-match homestand 6-9 overall and 2-2 in the ASUN. North Florida is 8-8 on the year and 2-1 in the ASUN while Stetson is 14-2 and 2-1.
JSU returns home following a split weekend on the road at Liberty and Bellarmine. The Gamecocks fell to Liberty, 6-1, before picking up another ASUN win, 4-2, over Bellarmine. Sophomore Anna Syrova continues to lead JSU with a 10-3 overall mark on the year in singles play. Sophomore Dariana Prato and freshman Ella Tuomela lead the Gamecocks' doubles play with four wins.
The Osprey's have won six consecutive ASUN Conference Championships and were picked to finish first in the preseason poll. Stetson handed UNF its only conference loss of the year, 5-2, on opening weekend. Following the loss, UNF defeated Kennesaw State 6-1 and FGCU 5-2. North Florida's Kit Gulihur is the No. 38 ranked singles player in the latest ITA NCAA Division-I women's tennis singles rankings. She is 10-2 overall on the year. In addition, Gulihur and her partner Ana Paula Melilo are the No. 15 ranked doubles pair in the latest ITA NCAA Division-I women's tennis doubles rankings.
Stetson enters the match following a loss to Florida Gulf Coast, 4-3 and a win over Kennesaw State, 5-2. The Hatters were picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll. Noa Cohen leads Stetson with a 14-0 mark on the year. She is 6-0 from both No. 4 and No. 5 singles flights. Cohen and her partner Anais Gabriel are 9-1 from the third doubles flight this season to lead the Hatters.
