Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team finished off the 2022 regular season with a 6-1 win over Lipscomb on the road, Saturday.
The Gamecocks (7-13, 3-6) fell behind early in the match to Lipscomb (6-14, 2-7) after two-out-of-three doubles matches. The freshman duo of
Anna Syrova and
Ella Tuomela opened with a 6-3 win in the third flight, giving JSU an early advantage. The Bison's responded with wins in first and second flights to take the doubles point.
After entering singles play down 1-0 in the match, JSU earned wins on all six singles courts to win 6-1 overall.
Zuzana Pavelekova opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the sixth flight, evening the match 1-1.
Dariana Prato gave JSU a 2-1 lead overall after her 6-3, 6-2 victory in the third flight. Tuomela followed Prato's win with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the fifth flight. Senior
Carolina Bulatovic clinched the match win with her first win of the year, 6-7, 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth flight. Syrova earned her team-leading 12
th win of the season, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the second flight to add the fifth point of the match. Freshman
Romane Mosse finished off the match with a 6-4, 7-6 win in the first flight, pushing JSU to a 6-1 win.
JSU finishes the year in seventh place in the ASUN standings, just narrowly missing the ASUN Conference Championship Tournament.
