MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the second consecutive week, the 16th-ranked Jacksonville State rifle team posted an aggregate score of 4675 against No. 8 Memphis on Saturday on the UofM campus.
The Gamecocks opened the season last week against Murray State, firing an identical score. Jax State fired a 2358 in air rifle and a added a 2317 in smallbore. The Tigers turned in a 4689 after combining a 2369 in air rifle and finishing the dual match with a 2320 in smallbore.
Senior
Lars Lilleng scored the top mark in smallbore with a 586 and added a 589 in air rifle to finish third in the overall individual standings with a total of 1175. Senior Kim Jettenburg finished just behind Lilleng with a total of 1169. Jettenberg carded the third-best air rifle score with a 590 before recording a 579 in smallbore.
Junior
Sam Burrow, who led the Gamecocks in the season opener in Murray, Ky., finished among the top-10 individuals with a final score of 1167. Burrow matched Lilleng with a 589 and closed out the day with a 578 in smallbore. Freshman
Frans Rasmusson rounded out Jax State's top-10 overall finishers with a combined score of 1158. Rasmusson and Jettenberg led the Gamecocks in air rifle with a 590 each.
Sophomore
Annie Iannotti padded Jax State's air rifle score with a 584, while junior
Clark McWhorter turned in a 574 to bolster the Gamecocks' scoring.
After a pair of matches on the road, the Gamecocks will host former Ohio Valley Conference rival Morehead State next Saturday, October 21 at the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall on the Jax State campus.
