JACKSONVILLE —The 14th-ranked Jax State rifle squad will host the 19th-ranked UAB Blazers for an NCAA Qualifier match on Saturday, February 21, from the Gamecock Rifle Range.

The Gamecocks and Blazers have met multiple times so far this season, with the Gamecocks finishing above the Blazers both times. UAB came to Jacksonville in the Gamecock Invitational in November, where Jax State swept the competition to win the invitational. The Blazers returned to Jacksonville in January for a shoulder-to-shoulder match, with the Gamecocks winning 4695-4648.

Jax State enters on a three-match losing skid after dropping two matches to second-ranked Nebraska and a match against No. 11 Murray State. Jax State's last victory came against UAB.

UAB enters after falling in both previous shoulder-to-shoulder matches, which were against Jax State and sixth-ranked Georgia Southern, but came in third place during the SoCon Championship.

Frans Rasmusson leads the Gamecocks in aggregate average with a score of 1181.917. He also leads the team in both smallbore and air rifle average with scores of 586.5 and 595.417, respectively.

Piper Wentland leads UAB in aggregate average with a score of 1167.889. She also has the highest air rifle average on the team of 590.556, but the highest smallbore average belongs to Holly Visconti at 581.375.
