Jacksonville State Wraps Up Play in UAB Beach Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Gamecock beach volleyball lost both of Saturday's outings in the UAB Beach Classic. Jacksonville State was swept by Mercer in their morning match before falling to the host Blazers, 5-0, in the event's finale.
Mercer (5-19) rolled to their third win over Jax State (0-13-3) this Spring with a 5-0 triumph on Saturday morning in the Magic City. The Bears scored five two-set wins in a quick match at Blazer Beach. The top Gamecock pairs were Isabelle Fuell and Kylee Quigley on court one and the tandem of Carley Lynch and Brooklyn Schiffli on court three. Those duos each totaled 24 points against MU.
Jacksonville State fell 5-0 to UAB (13-10) on Saturday evening. Like the Mercer contest, the Blazers picked up two-set victories on each court in an intrastate win. Fuell and Quigley again produced well in the top flight, ending with 27 points in two sets.
The Gamecocks round out the regular season in two weeks in the Austin Peay Tournament. Jax State will play Austin Peay and Chattanooga twice over the span of two days in Clarksville, Tenn., on Apr. 14-15.
