JACKSONVILLE – Following consecutive ASUN Conference setbacks, Jacksonville State men's tennis will try to right the ship on Sunday afternoon at home. The Gamecocks will play host to visiting Kennesaw State in a prudent league showdown that will begin at 2 p.m.
Jax State (10-9, 2-3) fell below .500 in ASUN play for the first time this season with a 6-1 loss to North Florida at home on Friday. The Ospreys used a quick start to jump out in front and the Gamecocks could never claim the momentum in a tough defeat. Morris' men will aim to put that result behind them on Sunday, however, as they welcome a stingy Kennesaw State (10-6, 3-2) team to the JSU Tennis Courts.
After a record-breaking Spring 2022 campaign in which the Owls won 15 matches and qualified as the top seed in the ASUN Tournament, Kennesaw State has had a bit of an up-and-down start to this season. KSU impressed early on with non-conference victories over strong regional programs like Georgia Southern, Mercer, and Samford, but dropped their ASUN opener, 7-0, at Liberty. They have responded nicely, though, winning three of their last four and posting a 5-2 victory over North Alabama in Florence on Friday.
The Gamecocks and Owls have met 12 times over the past 14 years with 12 of those meetings going in favor of Kennesaw State. KSU has won eight in a row against Jax State and have not lost in the series since 2014 in Montgomery. Jacksonville State's last win over their rivals in Calhoun County occurred on Feb. 15, 2011.

Jacksonville State's men will conclude the regular season next week. The Gamecocks travel to North Alabama for a Thursday afternoon affair before facing Austin Peay at home on Saturday morning in their regular season finale.
