JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State will host Central Arkansas for a three-game series beginning Saturday afternoon to open senior weekend.
The Gamecocks (27-16, 13-5 ASUN) face a tall task in the final home series of the season, welcoming the league-leading UCA Bears (33-9, 16-2 ASUN) to Jana McGinnis Field. The three-game weekend will go a long way in determining postseason seeding with the Bears and Gamecocks both aiming to solidify their spot in the conference's top four along with Liberty and Austin Peay who go head-to-head this week as well.
The marquee weekend gets a prime time start with Saturday's doubleheader moved to 5 p.m. to follow the university's graduation ceremony earlier in the day. Game two on Saturday will start at approximately 7 p.m. or 30 minutes after game one.
The teams will turn right back around for the series finale Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. matchup for JSU's final home game of the 2023 season. Prior to Sunday's contest, Jax State will honor its six senior members: Brantly Bonds, Hannah Brown, Lauren Hunt, Camryn McLemore, Holly Stewart and Sidney Wagnon in a special pregame ceremony.
All games this weekend stream on ESPN+ with live stats available at JSUGamecockSports.com.
The Bears and JSU have met five times in the past, including a three-game series in Conway, Ark., last season. This will be UCA's first visit to Jacksonville. The Gamecocks will finish the regular season next weekend at Austin Peay before heading to DeLand, Fla., for the ASUN Championship.
