OXFORD, Miss. — 13th-ranked Jax State rifle fell to 11th-ranked Murray State on Sunday at the Patricia C. Lamar Army National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford, Mississippi, 4716-4661.
The Gamecocks fall to 1-1 on the season while the Racers improve to 3-1.
Frans Rasmussen led the way in individual scores for the Gamecocks, posting a 582 with 26 centers in smallbore and a 591 with 49 centers in air rifle for an aggregate of 1175 with 75 total centers. His aggregate was good for fourth overall in the meet.
Jenny Ek, Maja Pedersen, and Alex Watts all around out the top 10 individuals for the day. Ek finished with scores of 578 in smallbore and 590 in air rifle for an aggregate of 1168 with 73 centers. Pedersen posted a score of 569 in smallbore and 588 in air rifle for an aggregate of 1157 with 58 centers. Watts rounded out the pack with a 571 in smallbore and a 585 in air rifle for an aggregate of 1156 with 60 centers.
In smallbore, Lars Lilleng finished in the top 10 with a score of 570 and 22 centers.
In air rifle, Akos Marta finished eighth with a score of 589 and 43 centers.
The Gamecocks will return to action next weekend when they take on Murray State again, this time in the Racers' home facility. Action from the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range will begin on Sunday, November 2, at 9 a.m.
