No. 11 Rifle Hosts The Citadel in First Home Match of 2025-26

JACKSONVILLE — The 11th-ranked Jax State rifle squad prepares to host The Citadel out of the SoCon for the Gamecocks' first home meet of the 2025-26 season. Action from the Gamecock Rifle Range is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 15.

Jax State is 1-2 on the season, most recently falling to 10th-ranked Murray State last Sunday. In that match, Jax State achieved a new season-high wih an aggregate of 4706, which is the highest aggregate the Gamecocks have shot since at least 2018. Freshman Maja Pedersen headlined Jax State's performances on Sunday, posting a smallbore score of 590 (tied for the highest smallbore score on the day) and an air rifle score of 594 (tied for second-highest air rifle score on the day) for an aggregate of 1184 with 79 center shots.

The Citadel is 0-2 so far this year, falling to Army and VMI so far. The Citadel is currently posting a smallbore average of 1939 and an air rifle average of 2343 for an aggregate average of 4284. The Bulldogs are led by Braden Michalak, who is posting their highest aggregate of 1168.5 with a smallbore average of 577 and an air rifle average of 591.5.

The two teams were supposed to meet last weekend, but a last minute cancellation changed plans. This weekend's meet was originally scheduled for January of 2026, but was rescheduled prior to the season beginning.

Action will take place from the Gamecock Rifle Range on Saturday, November 15. Lineup is schedule for 9 a.m., and fans can follow along via the "Live Results" button at the top of the release.
