MURRAY, Ky. — 18th-ranked Jax State rifle fell to 10th-ranked Murray State by only eight points on Sunday afternoon at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range in Murray, Kentucky.
The Gamecocks fall to 1-2 on the season while the Racers improve to 3-1.
Freshman Maja Pedersen headlined Jax State's performances on Sunday, posting a smallbore score of 590 (tied for the highest smallbore score on the day) and an air rifle score of 594 (tied for second-highest air rifle score on the day) for an aggregate of 1184 with 79 center shots.
Frans Rasmusson rounded out the top three with a smallbore score of 583 and air rifle score of 594 for an aggregate of 1177 with 83 centers.
Jenny Ek and Alex Watts were seventh and eighth respectively with aggregate scores of 1170. Ek had a smallbore score of 583 and an air rifle score of 587, while Watts had a smallbore score of 581 and an air rifle score of 589.
4706 is the highest score the Gamecocks have posted since at least 2018.
Jax State will return to action next Saturday with a two-day event at The Citadel.
