Women’s Golf Fourth in Spring Debut

PALM CITY, Fla.—The Jax State women's golf team tied for fourth at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate Invitational at Hammock Creek in their first tournament of the 2025 portion of the season.

In the 54-hole tournament, the Gamecocks were +19 as a team with totals of 299, 289, and 295.

"This was a very encouraging start to the Spring with a lot of positives and ways we can improve," said coach Robbie Fields. "Each day presented a different challenge for us, and I believe we did a great job with each day's primary focus. Round two was especially exciting for the majority of the round, we just have to learn to capitalize on those rounds when we are all playing well. Today we hit a rough stretch in the middle of the round but did a much better job finishing down the stretch to push us back into a respectable finish."

Rebekka Stutley posted the highest individual finish on the roster in her first tournament with Jax State, placing sixth with a one-over 54-hole total.

"I was really excited going into this tournament and our team has worked hard these past few weeks preparing for our trip to Florida," said Stutley. "It was an added bonus with how I played and makes me excited for the future."

The freshman was three over in Sunday's first round, but bounced back with a two-under 70 on Monday, playing the back nine at four-under and bogey free. Stutley posted an even-par round in Tuesday's final round, answering four bogeys with four birdies.

"I am very impressed and proud of how Bekky played in her first college event after just a month of college," said Fields. "To go out and put a tournament together like that is no surprise, but super exciting to see. Having our freshmen lead the way with two top-10 finishes is special."

Lara El Chaib was 10th on the roster at two-over for the tournament. She was two-over in the first round and was one-under in the second round with 15 pars. El Chaib closed the tournament with a one-over 73 on Tuesday with three birdies.

Rachel Camp had a pair of even-par rounds and closed with a 77 to finish 18th. Camp was the co-leader in the field in Par 3 scoring at 2,83.

Paula Perez Cubinas was 51st with a total of 12-over with rounds of 78, 77, and 73. Perez Cubinas was the co-leader in the field in Par 5 scoring at -4, averaging 4.67. Sandra Menes rounded out the roster in 64th (79-76-79).

"We learned a lot this week about how important our team play is, and I'm proud of how our team fought," said Fields. "We are eager to prepare for our home event in a few short weeks and compete the rest of this season."

Next up for the Gamecocks will be the Christ Banister Golf Classic, hosted by Jax State at Silver Lakes Golf Course in Glencoe, Ala. March 9th through 11th
