OXFORD, Miss. – In its final preparations for the NCAA Qualifier match next weekend, the Jacksonville State rifle team matched its season-best aggregate score on Sunday against Murray State in a neutral setting.
The Gamecocks posted their second score of 4692 on Sunday on the University of Mississippi campus, matching the season-high that was shot at the Gamecock Invitational back in November inside Rowe Hall on the Jax State campus. Jax State fired a 2363 in air rifle and turned in a 2329 in smallbore. The air rifle mark was three marks off the season-high in that category and the best mark in smallbore this season.
The Racers finished with a 4719 on the day.
Sophomore
Frans Rasmusson finished atop the individual leaderboard with a total score of 1182. Rasmusson was three marks shy of a perfect score of 600, turning in a 597. He added a 585 in smallbore, which was Jax State's top score in smallbore.
Freshman
Jenny Ek, senior
Sam Burrow and senior
Clark McWhorter finished among the top-10 individuals in the match. Ek claimed seventh place with a total mark of 1172. Ek recorded a 591 in air rifle and added a 581 in smallbore. Burrow, who led the Gamecocks on Saturday in Memphis, registered scores of 587 in air rifle and 583 in smallbore to place ninth. McWhorter collected a 580 in both air rifle and smallbore to round out the top-10 individual leaderboard.
Senior
Kim Jettenberg bolstered the Jax State air rifle score with a 588. Sophomore
Debi Weiser contributed to the air rifle score with a 582.
The Gamecocks will now turn their attention to the NCAA Qualifier match next weekend at the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall.
