ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Jacksonville State men's tennis hits the road this weekend for three matches, beginning at South Carolina State on Thursday. The Gamecocks then head to Furman on Friday, then finish the road swing at Presbyterian on Saturday.
The match at South Carolina State is set for a noon central first-serve, the Furman match is set for a 2 p.m. central start, and the match at Presbyterian begins at 11 a.m. central.
The Gamecocks are coming off a dominant 7-0 win over Wallace State-Hanceville on Tuesday to improve their 2025 record to 7-6. South Carolina State is 6-3 after a 6-1 victory over Furman on March 15, Furman is 5-9 following the loss to the Bulldogs, and Presbyterian is 5-8 after a recent 7-0 loss to Gardner-Webb on March 8.
Jax State holds a 39-29 mark in singles play this season.
Matei Palcau and
David Krasner are tied for a team-best 7-3 record in singles thus far.
Alin Fatu is 5-3,
Marko Milosavljevic is 5-4,
Charlie Penman is 5-5,
Timo De Visser is 5-6,
Aman Dahiya is 3-3, and
Zach Murphy is 2-2.
In doubles, the Gamecocks are an impressive 20-11 this Spring. Murphy and
Lucius Soller pace the Red-and-White with a 9-2 mark as a duo while
Logan Haga and De Visser follow at 6-2. De Visser has also teamed up with Penman for a 3-1 record, Krasner and Milosavljevic are 2-4 together, Krasner and Palcau are 0-1, and Fatu and Milosavljevic are 0-1.
South Carolina State's 16-13 singles record is led by Mikalai Bankou and Aissa Benchakroun who both have four wins. Benchakroun is 4-1, while Bankou is 4-2. Novak Novakovic is 3-2, Iliyas Maratuly is 2-0, Julius Augunas is 2-3, Gabriel Johnson is 1-3, and Ivan Pauliuchenka is 0-2.
In doubles, the Bulldogs have accumulated an 8-5 record. Bankou and Novakovic are 2-0, Novakovic and Augunas are 2-1, Maratuly and Pauliuchenka are 1-0, Johnson and Pauliuchenka are 1-1, Benchakroun and Augunas are 1-1, and Benchakroun and Bankou are 1-2.
While Furman has a 31-42 mark in singles as a team, Walker Allen has done well with a 7-4 record. Elijah Poritzky is 5-5, Connor Laymon is 4-3, John Rado is 4-5, and Nico Snyder is 2-1. Three other Paladins have three wins on the year as well.
Furman is an even 18-18 in doubles. Snyder and Nicolas Dispas are leading their squad at 9-4. Matt Kandel and Poritzky are 4-4, Allen and Sam Fancutt are 2-0, and Rado and Poritzky are 1-0. Cole Burnam and Laymon have struggled this season at 2-8 in doubles, Dispas and Rado are 0-1 together, and Theophile Joly and Kandel are 0-1 as well.
Presbyterian is below average in singles with their 28-45 record as a team. No member of their team currently has a winning record, but David Mamalat leads the team with his 6-7 mark. Daksh Prasad and Evgenios Vasilakis are both 5-7, Denim Yadav is 3-4, Marco Foglieni is 3-5, Eduardo Valentin is 3-6, and Pedro Cardoso is 3-9.
In doubles play, Presbyterian has tallied a 16-15 record. Cardoso and Prasad have lead the team at 6-4. Valentin and Yadav and Foglieni and Valentin are the only other duos with winning records. Valentin and Yadav are 3-2, while Valentin and Foglieni are 2-0. Yadav and Foglieni are 1-1, and Vasilakis and Mamalat are 4-5. No other pairings have recorded a win thus far.
After the trip to the Palmetto State, Jax State will head to Atlanta, Ga., on Sunday, March 30, to take on Georgia State.
