Freshman Power
With a stellar week, Jax State freshman
Kailey Martin tied the team lead with eight homers on the season. Martin launched three homers in four games last week, torching New Mexico State for nine RBI's in the three game series. Martin also leads Jax State in RBI's this season with 31.
How Sweep It Is
The Gamecocks started off Conference USA play hot in 2025, earning a series sweep over the visiting UTEP Miners. The Gamecocks defeated UTEP by final scores of 6-0, 10-7 and 5-3 on the way to a 3-0 CUSA record. Jax State is one of two Conference USA teams to start the year 3-0, joining Liberty.
Gamecocks Slip at New Mexico State
After opening up its road series against New Mexico State with an impressive 9-7 win, Jax State dropped back-to-back one-run contests 8-7 and 5-4 to fall in the series. The Gamecocks attempted a pair of comebacks but fell just short in each game.
Rookies in the Field
The Jax State defensive lineup is littered with freshmen in the 2025 season, with 87 of 116 infield starts being made by rookies this season.
Jaci Underwood,
Kailey Martin and
Aria Davis have each made 29 starts, with
Ashley Phillips being the lone returner in the infield lineup so far this year.
Hot Rod
Jax State sophomore
Emma Elrod wasted no time getting her 2025 started, leading Jax State in a few offensive categories through 29 games so far this season. Elrod leads Jax State in hits (40), doubles (8), home runs (8), runs (31) and slugging percentage (.718).
Let's Go Mo
Morgan Nowakowski has been a crucial piece for Jax State near the top of the lineup, batting .351, the second best mark on the team so far this year. Nowakowski has tallied 27 hits in 77 at bats this season while drawing a team best 16 walks.
Gamecocks Down No. 17 Mississippi State
Behind a complete game shutout from
Kat Carter and timely hitting from the Gamecocks, Jax State knocked off No. 17 Mississippi State at the Rocket City Softball Classic, 3-0.
Abbi Perkins led the Gamecocks at the plate, with a pair of fourth inning RBI's while coming around to score herself. The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning before Carter escaped the jam and earned her fifth victory of the season.
Boland Wins Number One
On Feb. 7,
Julie Boland picked up her first career win over North Florida, 3-1. The Gamecocks used RBI's from
Amber Reed and
Ashley Phillips while
Kat Carter finished with a 7.0 inning, no earned run outing against the Ospreys.
