Women's Tennis Heads to West Florida Tuesday

PENSACOLA, FLA. – Jacksonville State women's tennis returns to action this weekend at West Florida on Tuesday. The match is set for a 1 p.m. first-serve on the campus of West Florida.
The Gamecocks are 7-5 this season following a home triumph over Wallace State-Hanceville on March 18. West Florida is 9-5 after a win against North Georgia on March 18 and a win over Columbus State on March 20.
Jax State is 38-20 on the season in singles play. Zuzana Pavelekova leads the Gamecocks with an 8-2 record, while Irene Artigas follows closely at 7-2. Anna Syrova is 7-3, Aneka Patel is 5-2, Polina Ramenskaja is 5-5, Lea Erenda is 4-5, Ava Thomason is 1-0, and Ella Tuomela is 1-1.
In doubles, Jax State is 19-12 as a team. The pair of Artigas and Patel lead the team with a 7-4 mark this season. Ramenskaja and Erenda are 3-2, Tuomela and Ramenskaja are 2-0, Syrova and Tuomela, are 2-1, Erenda and Syrova are 1-1, Syrova and Pavelekova are 1-1, Ramenskaja and Pavelekova are 1-0, Thomason and Tuomela are 1-0, and Thomason and Erenda are 1-2.
West Florida is 48-36 in singles play this Spring. They are led by Guadalupe Martinez who is 12-2. Aline Midori Da Silva 10-3, Sandra Recuenco is 7-6, Alberte Joergensen is 7-5, Glullana Sacco is 3-2, Lulza Daud is 3-3, Nathalla Mossambani is 3-5, and Carlota Verdu is 3-9. Mnuela Dejean is the lone winless West Florida athlete ate 0-1.
In doubles, West Florida is an impressive 28-11. Verdu and Recuenco have teamed up for a team-best 10-3 record. Midori Da Silva and Martinez are 9-2, Daud and Mossambani are 5-4, Joergensen and Sacco are 3-1, and Sacco and Recuenco are 1-0. Dejan and Mossambani are 0-1.
Following the match at West Florida, Jax State returns home on March 28 to face Tennessee State at 10 a.m.
