Women's Tennis Takes on Berry Tuesday in Season Opener

ROME, Ga. – Jacksonville State women's tennis is set to face Berry College Tuesday in the season opener at 10 a.m. central. The match is set to take place at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College.
The Gamecocks are coming off a 10-8 2025 mark, including an impressive 5-2 record at the Jax State Tennis Courts. Jax State defeated Sam Houston 4-0 in the opening round of the Conference USA Tournament before falling to Middle Tennessee in the second round.
Berry College went 15-8 in 2025.
Last season, senior Zuzana Pavelekova was named to the All-CUSA Singles Second Team, and Lea Erenda was tabbed for the All-CUSA Freshman Team. Pavelekova exhausted her eligibility and Erenda entered the transfer portal following the conclusion of last season.
Irene Artigas returns to the Gamecocks' team this season after being named to the CUSA All-Academic Team in 2025. Along with Artigas, Aneka Patel and Polina Ramenskaja also return to the team this season.
Ramenskaja was 8-6 in singles in 2025, while Patel went 5-3, respectively. Artigas had the best season last year of the returners as she went 9-4 in singles. Artigas and Patel had a team-best 8-5 doubles record last season.
The Gamecocks welcome five newcomers to the team including Western Carolina transfer Isabella Sambola and freshmen Alba Roche, Angeles Rodriguez Rizo, Emma Montagner, and Sae Kaneko.
Following the match at Berry, Jax State faces Mississippi College in their home opener on Jan. 31. The Gamecocks were set to face Austin Peay on Jan. 24, but the match was postponed due to inclement weather.
