Reeder named Second Team while Waldhart Nabs All-Freshman honors
DALLAS – Two Jax State soccer student-athletes earned Conference USA All-Conference honors, the league announced on Friday afternoon.
Gamecock striker Emma Reeder earned the first postseason honors of her career, securing a Second Team spot, while Nerina Waldhart was named to the All-Freshman team.
Reeder, the regular season conference leader in goals turned in a career-high eight goals in her junior season of action, helping lead Jax State to key victories this season, including wins over rivals Troy and Kennesaw State, the latter representing the Gamecocks' first CUSA victory of the Corey Smith era. Reeder also finished top 10 in shots taken in the league at 36, good for an average of two/game. Reeder finished with the third-most points of all individual players in CUSA with 16 points. Reeder also had a game-winner to her name this season, scoring the game winning goal against Alabama State earlier in the year.
Nerina Waldhard made an impact for the Gamecocks beginning in the conference slate of the schedule, earning her first career assist on October 1 at Missouri State. The Switzerland native scored the first goal of her collegiate career on October 17 against Sam Houston. Her final assist of the season came on October 25 against Delaware, to conclude her freshman campaign with four points. Waldhart tallied 10 points and shot a season-high three shots in back-to-back matches against Kennesaw State and Sam Houston.
Reeder marks the first second team honor for the Gamecocks under head coach Corey Smith. Smith has now an All-Freshman team honoree in back-to-back years at Jax State.
