Men's Tennis Faces Rival Troy Saturday Afternoon

JACKSONVILLE – Jax State men's tennis is set to take on rival Troy on Saturday. The match against the trojans is set for a 1 p.m. start at the Jax State Tennis Courts.
The Gamecocks (4-0) are coming off a 6-1 win at Mercer on Feb. 8. Meanwhile, Troy sits at 7-3 on the year and is fresh off a 6-1 against Spring Hill.
At Mercer, the Gamecocks took the doubles point before winning all but one match in singles. Alin Fatu and Charlie Penman won on doubles court three 6-2, Aman Dahiya and Timo De Visser then lost 6-3 on court one. David Krasner and Lucius Soller clinched the doubles win against the Bears with a 6-4 triumph on court two.
Krasner was the first in singles to go final with a pair of 6-1 wins on court two against Mercer. Soller then won 6-2, 6-4 on court six, Timo De Visser followed on court four with a win due to retirement of his opponent. De Visser won the first set 7-5 before leading 2-0 in the second when the match was called.
On court one Penman lost the only match of the event to Mercer's Isak Padio. Padio won the first set 6-3 and took the second set 7-6 (13-11). Dahiya won the first set on court three 6-2 before Mercer won the second 6-2. In the decisive third set, Dahiya won 6-4. Fatu closed out the match on court five in a tight match against Prince Gandonou. Gandonou won the opening set 7-6, then Fatu responded with a 7-6 (7-5) second set win. In the third set, Fatu won 1-0 (10-7).
Jax State is 20-4 on the season in singles action and sits at 9-3 in doubles to this point. Dahiya and De Visser lead the way in singles as they both are 4-0. Fatu and Krasner are 3-0 in singles, Soller and Murphy are 2-0, and Penman and Matei Palcau are 1-2.
In doubles, Soller and Murphy are 2-0 this season. Fatu and Penman are also 2-0. Fatu and Krasner are 1-0, while Fatu and Palcau are also 1-0. Dahiya and De Visser are 2-2 as a doubles team, while Krasner and Soller are 1-1.
Following the match against Troy, Jax State welcomes Alabama A&M to the Jax State Tennis Courts on Wednesday, Feb. 18, for a 1:30 p.m. first-serve.
