JACKSONVILLE—Jax State fell to 3-3 on the season after dropping a hard-fought battle with Samford, 4-3.
The teams split the first two doubles courts with the Gamecocks a winner in the top flight with
Polina Ramenskaja and
Aneka Patel teaming up for a 6-4 win, and Samford winning 6-4 at Line 2.
Angeles Rodriguez-Rizo and
Sae Kaneko had a 6-5 lead after a crucial break at Line 3, but the match was tied 6-6 after a double fault. Samford won the tiebreaker 7-2 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The teams split the six singles matches with Ramenskaja winning 6-2, 6-1 at Line 1 and Patel winning a wild match at Line 4, bouncing back from a 6-1 first set loss with a 6-1 win of her own and a 7-5 win in the third.
Isabella Sambola was responsible for the third point with a 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 win.
The Gamecocks will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Alabama A&M at 11 a.m.
