Jax State saw a 42-match win streak come to an end with a loss in seven games to Wichita State to take runner-up honors at the Big Red Invite hosted by Nebraska.

The top-ranked Gamecocks went 5-0 during Friday's Baker matches with a total pinfall of 5,506 to lead the field. They also went 6-0 during traditional matches with a total pinfall of 6,472, led by Annalise Obryant with a 226.33 average. The highlight for the junior was a 297 on Sunday morning against Nebraska, taking a perfect game into the third attempt in the 10
th frame.

Freshman
Kaitlyn Stull joined Obryant on the All-Tournament team with a 222.33 average. Her high game was also against Nebraska on Sunday with a 258.

The Gamecocks defeated Maryville in the semifinal in the Baker best-of-seven bracket, jumping out to a 2-0 lead with 192-184 and 245-238 wins. Maryville took the next two 214-188 and 201-181. Jax State earned a trip to the final with 208-181 and 199-181 wins.

In the final against Wichita State, the teams kept alternating wins with Jax State winning the first 213-194, the Shockers taking the second 228-206, and the Gamecocks taking the third 213-176. Wichita State held serve with a 232-192 win in the fourth and the Gamecocks eked out a 190-181 win in the fifth. The Shockers came away with the match with their two best games of 268 and 279, downing the Gamecocks which bowled 224 and 182 in the sixth and seventh, respectively.
