DALLAS—Jax State freshman pitcher Makenna Moore has been named Conference USA's Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.
 
Moore was 2-0 over three appearances last week as her team went 4-0 and moved into first place in Conference USA. In 17.1 innings of work, she allowed just one earned run and totaled 13 strikeouts.
 
On Sunday, she threw a complete game against Western Kentucky to improve to 6-1 on the season with seven strikeouts and two walks. Though she didn't factor into Friday's decision, the Grain Valley, Mo. native tossed 4.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. In Wednesday's non-conference win over Samford, she worked six scoreless with four strikeouts.
 
She's currently fourth in Conference USA in batting average against at .207 and is sixth in total strikeouts with 58.
 
The Gamecocks will travel to Auburn for a non-conference game on Wednesday before hosting LA Tech this weekend.
