DALLAS — Jax State freshman pitcher Makenna Moore was named Conference USA's pitcher of the week for the first time this season on Monday, following a pair of impressive outings this past weekend against Louisiana Tech.

Across the three-game span, Moore made two appearances, winning both games as she led the Gamecocks to a series sweep over the Bulldogs. In total, the freshman arm pitched 13.2 innings, allowing no runs off just seven hits, along with tallying 12 strikeouts as well.

In Friday's win, Moore got the start in the circle and pitched a complete game shutout over Louisiana Tech, striking out eight of the 29 batters that she faced, while only allowing four hits. On Sunday, Moore came in relief in the second inning and pitched 6.2 innings, allowing just three hits and a walk to pick up her eighth win of the year.

The Grain Valley, Mo., native currently sits in second place in Conference USA in ERA with 2.52, third in batting average against with .197 and fourth in total strikeouts with 70. Moore is now 4-0 in conference play in five starts.

Moore has previously been named the CUSA Freshman of the Week twice this season and now adds this honor to her growing resume.

The Gamecocks will travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide at Rhoads Stadium on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
