Gamecocks Host Alabama A&M on Tuesday Evening

JACKSONVILLE  – The Jax State baseball team returns home for the next seven of eight contests, starting with a home midweek game against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. Action from Rudy Abbott Field at Jim Case Stadium begins at 6 p.m.

Jax State carries a 29-8 overall record into the match up, taking down then-15th-ranked Auburn in its previous midweek game. In that game, Cooper Blauser had his third game with five RBI in 2026, with Brady Thomas and Grayson Ashe driving in three each. Seven of the nine Jax State starters had two or more hits. Ryan Geraghty started for the first time in his career and collected six strikeouts in two innings, and three of the five Gamecock pitchers posted three or more strikeouts in the win. Over the weekend, the Gamecocks dropped two games on the road to Liberty to fall in its first CUSA series of the year.

Alabama A&M brings an 8-30 record into the game, most recently falling in all three games to Alabama State in SWAC play over the weekend. Prior to the weekend series, the Bulldogs hosted Tuskegee, where they came away with a 14-8 win over the Tigers. Bulldogs center fielder Brycen Hammonds lead the way with three hits and an RBI, while three different Bulldogs drove in multiple runs.

The two previously met at Toyota Field in March, where the Gamecocks had to rally from a 5-1 deficit to earn a 12-7 victory over the Bulldogs. The Gamecocks plated seven runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a 5-5 tie, the most runs Jax State has scored in the ninth inning this season.

The Gamecocks own the overall series over AAMU, 12-2, with the two reconvening this season for the first time since 2015.

Jax State has the seventh-most double plays in Division I with 32, tied with George Washington, Grand Canyon, Nicholls, Pepperdine, and Utah. New Orleans and Texas State lead Division I with 39.

Other statistical categories the Gamecocks rank highly in are sacrifice bunts (fourth, 38), sacrifice flies (seventh, 24), hits allowed per nine innings (10th, 7.26), earned run average (12th, 3.67), and strikeouts per nine innings (15th, 10.9).

Eli Gold and Jim Case will have the call on ESPN+ Tuesday evening, while Mike Parris will handle the radio call on the Gamecock Radio Network.

Neither side has announced a starting pitcher for the contest at the time of writing.
