Prepped four seasons at Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tenn., for head coach Bubba Luckett…averaged 15 points, five assists and eight rebounds per game as a senior to lead the Purple Wave to a 21-9 record…was a first-team all-state, all-district and all-region performer…was named Best of Preps twice by the Commercial Appeal…as a junior, hit a 70-footer at the buzzer to beat McCallie in the semifinals and send CBHS to the state title game…played in high school with current Gamecock teammate Frankie Bougher...also lettered in football and track and was an honor student.

Born on Feb. 13, 1993…the son of Virgil and Angela Deanes…has an older brother, Virgil III, and a younger brother Marcus…was an honor student at Christian Brothers High School…is majoring in business marketing at JSU.
